THREE LADY SALUQIS NAMED TO ALL-TJCCAA SOFTBALL TEAM
Three freshmen members of the Southwest softball team
have been named to the 2008 Tennessee Junior and
Community College Athletic Association All-Conference
team.
Utility player Whitney Witcher (Stuttgart, AR) and
centerfielder Amber Gatewood (Brighton, TN) were named
to the second team while second baseman Carly McLennan
(Munford, TN) received third team honors.
Witcher led the Lady Saluqis with a batting average of
.333 and set single season Southwest records with 15
doubles, 33 runs batted in and 78 total bases. Gatewood
batted .331 and led the team with 20 stolen bases and a
single season record 35 runs scored. In addition, she
threw out nine baserunners from her centerfield
position. McLennan batted .306 with 12 doubles, 24 runs
batted in, and a single season record four home runs.
