SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL SWEEPS CROWLEY'S RIDGE
The Southwest softball team improved to 9-5 on the
season with doubleheader sweep of Crowley’s Ridge College (26-1 and 24-3) on
Tuesday afternoon in Paragould, Arkansas.
In
game one, Staci Craig tied a school record with five hits including a double
and four runs batted in. Craig was also the winning pitcher, striking
out six in four innings. As a team, the Lady Saluqis pounded out 35
hits in the two games, led by Gina High (pictured at right) (6 for 9,
triple, home run, 5 RBI), Jessica Hefflinger (6 for 10, 2 doubles, 7 RBI),
Anna Carter (4 for 5, double, 5 RBI), Alyse Brewer (4 for 8, 2 doubles, 4
RBI), and Amanda Harlow (3 for 7, triple, 4 RBI).
Southwest will travel to Booneville, Mississippi this
weekend to compete in the Tiger Fest Tournament. On Friday, the Lady
Saluqis will play the host team Northeast Mississippi at 1 p.m. and Snead
State at 3 p.m. Southwest will play its final pool play game against
Three Rivers at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday before advancing to a single
elimination bracket Saturday afternoon.
