SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL SIGNS BRIGHTON CATCHER

Brighton High School catcher Brittany McKee has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and softball career at Southwest, becoming the fourth signee for 2008-2009.

McKee, a two-year starter for Coach Robin Jacobs at Brighton High, led her team to a 20-17 record and the District 13AAA runner-up last season. A first team all-district selection as a junior, McKee has started 87 straight games behind the plate for Brighton.

McKee joins pitcher Haley McCormick (Clarksville, AR) and catcher/outfielders Lauren Dreher (Little Rock, AR) and Ashley Huey (Bartlett) in the 2008 recruiting class. The fourth Brighton player to sign with the Lady Saluqis since 2003, McKee will reunite with former high school teammate (and current Southwest freshman) Amber Gatewood next season and will also be the seventh member of the 2008-2009 Southwest softball team from Tipton County.
