LADY SALUQIS SHUT DOWN DYERSBURG STATE

The 5th-ranked Southwest women's basketball team defeated Dyersburg State 68-28 on Wednesday night at the Verties Sails Gymnasium, improving its record to 18-0 overall and 11-0 in the TJCCAA.

The Lady Saluqis limited Dyersburg State to just 16 percent field goal shooting (12 of 74) for the game and only 9.3 percent (4 of 43) in the second half.

Freshman Shalonda George (pictured at left) scored a career-high 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting to lead Southwest in scoring.  Sophomore Starkitsha Luellen added 14 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double.

THREE SALUQIS SCORE 20+ IN DYERSBURG STATE WIN

Sophomores Dominique Johnson (27 points) and A.J. Nance (21 points) and freshman Jeremy Rodgers (21 points) combined for 69 points as the Southwest men's basketball team beat Dyersburg State 126-94 on Wednesday night at the Verties Sails Gymnasium.  The win improved the Saluqis' record to 18-3 on the season including 9-2 in the TJCCAA.

Southwest dished out a school-record 39 assists on 50 baskets, led by freshman Josh Watson (pictured at right) with eight and sophomores Emmanuel Cheers and Nance with six each.  Watson also led the Saluqis with a career-high 13 rebounds.
