SOUTHWEST BASKETBALL TEAMS SWEEP ST. CATHARINE IN HOME FINALE

The 5th-ranked Lady Saluqis (23-0) completed an undefeated regular season with an 85-65 win over Saint Catharine on Saturday night at the Verties Sails Gymnasium. Candace Rucker scored 20 points and Starkitsha Luellen notched her 13th double-double of the season with 13 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Lady Saluqis to their 49th victory over the past two seasons. Other top scorers were Cristil Camper with 15, Daumonique Lenhardt with 13, and Tiffany Simpson (pictured at left) with a career-high 11 points.

Last Wednesday, Rucker scored 22 and Raquel Brigham had 15 points on five three-point field goals to lead the Southwest women to a 82-55 win over Dyersburg State.

A.J. Nance (pictured at right) scored a game-high 21 points and DeAngelo Riley added 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Southwest men’s basketball team to a 91-79 win over Saint Catharine. Also in double-figures for the Saluqis were Dominique Johnson with 18, Jeremy Rodgers with 11, and James Justice with 10.

Last Wednesday, Nance poured in a career-high 40 points and Johnson added 32 to lead Southwest past Dyersburg State 109-82.  Riley scored 15 points and led the Saluqis with a career-high 16 rebounds.
