SALUQIS DEFEAT CHATTANOOGA AND MOTLOW
The Southwest men's basketball team went 2-0 over the
weekend, defeating Chattanooga State 60-57 on Friday night, and Motlow State
75-67 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Saluqis lost to Chattanooga State
59-48, and to Motlow State 80-71.
Sophomore Albert Jones scored nine points to lead the
Saluqis to the win over Chattanooga State. Freshman Cedric Walker added nine
points, while sophomore Zach Bright led the team in rebounding with 10. In
the women's game, freshman Candice Holliday scored 13 points to lead the
Lady Saluqis in scoring.
All twelve Saluqis who played in the Motlow State game
scored, led by sophomore Ben Mitchum with 16 points. Sophomore Larisha
Graves was the leading scorer in the women's game with 19.
Both teams return to action on Tuesday against Coahoma
Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Tipoff for the women's game is
set for 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 8:00. Both
games are scheduled to be broadcast on WUMR radio (91.7 FM).
